How can you reduce your carbon output?
How much money can you save?

The workshop is fun and easy.

  • Simple step by step calculations
  • Achievable carbon reduction plans
  • Support network

Who is the workshop for?

All Marlow residents

Purpose?

1. So you learn all about carbon usage

The wider picture, including peak oil and Climate Change
Individual usage, who does what?
How do we influence CO2 in the atmosphere?

2. To stress the importance of action on individual, community and wider political levels.

Why?

So you understand your role in Climate Change.
You’ll take action to reduce your carbon footprint.
Hopefully you will be encouraged  to support and join in TTM activities in general.

End result?

You will have learned how to save money by saving energy.
You’ll know your carbon footprint.
You’ll understand how to improve it.
You’ll  know why it is important to improve it.

We will set up an email support network of Marlow’s carbon savers to help support your attempts to reduce your fuel usage. We will also help monitor your carbon over the year, and provide continuing inspiration to keep it low.

STRUCTURE/CONTENT OF WORKSHOPS

Climate Change and oil facts and figures – a brief overview.

  • What makes up a carbon footprint?
  • Delegates, you will calculate your own carbon footprint, and should come to the workshop with your last year’s electricity and gas bills, and a fair idea of annual mileage in all forms of fuelled transport.
  • Ways of reducing each component of carbon footprint.

Exercise

  • Make list of what you can do when you get home
  • Checklist: tick off when actions complete
  • Set up buddy system, possibly, if you want it
  • Sign people up to a new support network

Marlow Power! We can make a Carbon Chart of everyone’s carbon, and join the group collectively to 10:10, a movement which is promoting using less fuel (see http://www.1010uk.org/). Provide another calculation in 6 months or one year to see how we have done as a group. Use the collective carbon reduction to influence local authorities in helping us to provide sustainability projects for Marlow.
